WHAT IS YOUR MIND GROUP??

Someone wrote, “Watch your thoughts- they become words; Watch your words- they become actions; Watch your actions- they become habits; Watch your habits- they become character; Watch your character- It becomes your destiny.”

How true!!!! Everything starts with your thoughts!
Have you noticed that when you think of something, your mind immediately begins a search to prove you right ??
For example: You just have to think , “I am stupid”; your mind immediately starts a search operation, digging in the deep recesses and pulls out a comprehensive list of  all the stupid things you have ever done in your lifetime. Now that is proof enough  to keep believing that you are indeed stupid and you go around declaring it with your mouth. Very soon you will even start acting stupid!!!
Conversely if you think,” I am smart”; your mind will bring to your remembrance all your past winning moments; you start declaring “I am a winner” and start behaving like one.
Both positive and negative thoughts are stored in our subconscious mind. While we cannot erase out all the negative thoughts/ experiences/memories, we can definitely choose which experience or thought, to bring to recall, when required.
Now take the example of what David chose to recall prior to facing the giant Goliath (1 Samuel 17:34-37)
Notice how his past experience of rescuing his lamb out of the clutches of a lion and a bear, was converted to a positive affirmation, which turned true.
God’s past faithfulness should assure us of his faithfulness in the future too. That was the principle that David used and that is what we can use too.
Sadly negative thinking appears to be more prevalent than positive thinking. For most of us positive thinking requires a lot of effort whereas negative thinking comes easily, uninvited.
Negative thoughts leads to negative affirmations- (I can’t, I won’t, I am not able to), whereas positive thoughts leads to positive affirmations (I can, I will, I am able to)
Both are equally powerful and capable of determining the course of our life.
It is something like this- each time you declare a negative affirmation, you take the wrong fork on the road of life and ultimately end up somewhere where you are not supposed to be.
I want to encourage you- Practice speaking positive affirmations everyday. Very soon it will become a part of you. Once this happens, you will be amazed like I am, at how carelessly people use their tongue. You will be even more amazed that sooner or later, they are trapped in the maze of their negative words they live exactly the same terrible things that they speak of themselves- poverty, sickness, fear, failure, disappointment etc.
The Bible is full of promises that can be converted to positive affirmations;
  • I am at peace (John 14: 27)
  • I have an abundant life (John 10: 10)
  • I have boundless energy (Isaiah 40: 31)
  • I am whole (Colossians 2: 9,10)
  • I am an achiever (Philippians 4: 13)
Besides these, I use some affirmations daily like-
  • I feel good.
  • I am healthy.
  • I like what I eat (when I am dieting and eating only raw vegetables).
  • I am not dependent on anyone else but God for my daily needs.
  • I am fruitful
  • I will remain active till the end of my days
  • I will have perfect use of my mental and physical faculties all the days of my life.
I want to encourage each and every one of you- Take some time out of your busy schedules. Repeat positive affirmations over your life and you will see your life changing for the better!!!
Powerful Quote:
“As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.”
— Henry David Thoreau, Author, Poet, and Philosopher
